When Oklahoma tornado survivor Rebecca Vitsmun became a cause for atheists, they raised over $80,000 to help her family buy a new home. That’s the kind of overwhelming support that says, “we’ve got your back”. This Tuesday will a £15 entry fee put off Church of Noise believers from supporting a hardcore gig of biblical proportions?
I already have tickets to see METZ play with Mudhoney and The Meat Puppets in Glasgow on Wednesday night, so I was very surprised to see them listed on this bill for the night before at SWG3. That’s two METZ gigs in town two nights in a row in case you’re not great at maths. The entry price of £15 seems a bit steep and makes me wonder if it will put some gig-goers off.
SWG3 is a venue that some people may not be familiar with.
SWG3 (Studio Warehouse Glasgow) is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts space in the westend of Glasgow. We run an annual programme of exhibitions, band nights and events as well as being home to a community of over 120 artists and musicians.
The venue Facebook page is worth a look. Their own website has no mention of the gig as far as I could tell. The Skinny’s website has a listing though.
I’ll leave you with a few links:
Fucked Up – live gig
METZ – live radio session
Doh! The Mudhoney gig isn’t until June 5th. My bad.
