Podcast #27: Lyle Christine

lylecover-150pxIn a bumper Christmas edition of the show, Alex and Glasgow based musician Lyle Christine talk about internet trolling, virtual personas, production techniques, and a whole lot of other things.

The switch from being part of a band to developing a solo musical identity doesn’t have to be a backwards step.

Earlier this year Adam Stafford gained more exposure and critical acclaim than arguably his band ever did (the rather brilliant Y’all is fantasy island) with the release of the record, ‘Imaginary Walls Collapse’. The creative freedom solo projects have to offer can be liberating. This was evident too on Alex’s most recent podcast chat with the inspirational Laraaji.

Chatting to names you’ll come across in The Skinny or The Wire magazine is nice and all that but Alex will always delve deeper into the underground. Episode 27 of Future Library therefore features a musician who has yet to become part of the hipster parade. When Alex first mentioned to me that Lyle Christine would be on the podcast, I realised that I hadn’t heard a single thing about Lyle for ages. A bit like The Strangers Almanac then.

In my very limited knowledge of Lyle as a person he has always struck me as being extremely passionate about music. You can bet therefore that this chat will not be for the faint of heart!

Enjoy.
